Who is Voyageur?

Voyageur is the only magazine fully devoted to the history of the 26 county area known as Northeast Wisconsin. Founded in 1984, Voyageur is a non-profit magazine published twice a year, each June and December. Publication frequency is Summer/Fall and Winter/Spring. Each 64-page edition highlights historic people, places and events from the region's past.

Voyageur is a magazine "of the people, for the people, and by the people." It exists because of the dedication of its readers, writers, and financial supporters.

Readers
Voyageur has a readership of 10,000 and is distributed to homes, schools, libraries, businesses and other locations throughout Wisconsin, in nearly all fifty states and overseas. Subscribers through their interest and subscription fees, allow us to and are the reason why we continue to publish issue after issue.

Writers
Voyageur’s articles are completely written and submitted by individuals with a sincere interest in exploring the history of Northeastern Wisconsin. Articles are written by free-lance writers and then submitted to Voyageur's editors who work to get the articles published.

Voyageur publishes manuscripts, essays, reviews, documents, photographs, illustrations, maps and other historical materials in each issue. Articles range from prehistoric times to the twentieth century and cover such topics as prehistoric people, Native American life, European and ethnic settlement, agriculture, industry, famous people, historic places and historic events. Written contributions, letters to the editor, comments, suggestions and inquiries are welcomed.
